2009!

From analysing these magazine covers i feel the genreal concept behind the 2009 issues of VOGUE is to entice the audience with "big Stories" and celebrities names. Also big headlines based around soloutions to many womens problems may draw the audience in. Because the magazine is so cluttered with headlines and subtxt ther is alot to focus on which for means that VOGUE may have lost some of sophistication because of its trying to adapted to suit the new generation.

1999 !

The 1999 issues convey a whole new style of vogue from the previous stlye 10 years.
My intial thoughts were that there may have been a change in chief editor because there is such a dramatic change in cover style and when i researched into the recent editors i found;
Ailsa Garland (1961–1964)
Beatrix Miller (1965–1983)
Anna Wintour (1984–1987)
Elizabeth Tilberis (1988–1991)
Alexandra Shulman (1992 – present)
therfore from this information i can tell that there has been a change in editor over this 20 year so i can make the assumption that the main change in cover stlye is based on the change in editors style and the demand of the new generations.

1989 !

From looking at the 1989 issues of VOGUE which i sourced from the VOGUE archives, i have noticed several general trends.The first is the very minimalist cover which connotes sophistication and also draws the audience attention towards the cover shot. The streotypical "VOGUE" title is continuosly used to create brand recognition for the targeted audience.
TARGET AUDIENCE
without looking at the magazine covers to indepth i have made a anilitcal assumption of a potential target audience;
For the 3 examples of the 1989 issues i think the audience targeted here was a socially higher class women because of the sophistiocation conveyed through the minimnalist cover and the choice of over model.

Vogue !

I decided that my magazine analysis will be based around the internationlly succeful magazine Vogue as it has a widely accesable archives and has been producing magazines for over 90 years.

I also chose vogue because it has greatly developed over the years into a the contempory magazine it is today.

Project title and Plan !

For My Coursework i have decided to base it around fahsion magazines and how they have developed and changed over the years. For this i will need to research into 2 major fashion magazines and analysis any major changes they have undergone in the past 10 years. This will then enable me to produce a future magazine for my production coursework based around my research.
Therefore the kind of things i will need to research into will be;

  • - The representation of women,
  • - The main themes represented,
  • - The Presentation of the cover,
  • - The articles included,
  • - The style of fashion,
  • - Anythings that remain unique to the magazines,
  • - Target Audience,(social classes)
  • - Production cost, And consumer cost,
  • - Editors,
  • - Celebrity contributions,
  • - Membership and subscription,
  • -Global distribution,
